 Editorial

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great and restful summer break. Ours seemed to fly by. We started back August 1st.

Stay tuned for some upcoming information on a Nature/Walking Trail I finished up this summer along with some ideas on how we use it.

As always we welcome your input, so please feel free to email any of the section editors below to share comments, Internet sites, ideas or more with us and the other professionals around the globe!
Thanks and have a great year!

Phi Epsilon Kappa
 History

This year why not try to integrate a little history into your program.
Check out the History and Physical Education site. Try some of the games from the 1800's with your students.

Nutripoints

You could have your older students try the History of Physical Education Webquest. The links will take your students to outside links.

Your Students could also try the new Matching quiz. The great thing on this one is that all of the answers can be found within the site. It is also self grading.

Mr. Phillips Physical Education Site

This site by Jon Phillips from Windom Elementary shows how you can integrate technology in your program. It has a History of Physical Education webquest as well as 4 other webquests for your students to utilize.

 Contribute Your Ideas

If you have ideas, comments, letters to share, or questions about particular topics, please email one of the following Elementary PE Section Editors:

 Listserves

For those of you who are not aware of them there are two really good listserves for physical educators. What is a listserve? It is basically an e-mail discussion group. You submit a request or a question about something in your program and you get answers or comments from others in the field.

Speed Stakcs

What's the good in this? The main thing is that you suddenly realize that you are not alone in the problems you face, many others have gone through or experienced the same types of things. When you sign up be sure and sign up for the digest form. This will give you all of the postings for the day in one e-mail. Otherwise you might possibly get up to 100 separately generated e-mails.

Both of these have several thousand members. They also have searchable archives.

 Non-Traditional Gymnastics

Call it educational, developmental, creative, informal or any other kind of gymnastics you want to. But, whatever you call it there is very little non-traditional gymnastics literature on the Web or otherwise .

On this web site you'll find an explanation of the differences between traditional and non-traditional gymnastics. Reasons are given for trying something different, and of course you'll find ideas for lessons, activities, and assessments.

Lots of links to other gymnastic-related sites are also included. If you teach elementary PE this site is well worth a visit. Click here!.
