Apply TODAY for a PEP Grant!
Application materials for 2003 PEP Grants are now available! Schools
around the country have just over a month (May 12 deadline) to apply
for a share of the $60 million allocated this year to improve
physical education.
Applying for a federal grant is not for the faint
of heart. The paperwork is extensive and compiling this information
is time consuming. Fortunately, help is available.
Last year PELINKS4U published an article based on
tips shared by successful grant applicants. This month at the AAHPERD
Convention this year's successful recipients will again share their
success stories.
If you are willing to give it a try be sure to use
the various resources available. Here are some suggestions:
- PE4Life
was not only closely involved in advocating for the initial grant
but offers suggestions and helpful site links.
- Wondering about the requirement for a "needs assessment" NASPE
provides tips.
- Sportime
has created a special web site for grant applicants. There is
even a sample application you can download as well as some excellent
links to articles
you will want to read.
- Read the PELINKS4U grant writing tips article
mentioned above
- Joseph
Krzys shares some "Valuable Information for Writing Health
and Physical Activity Grants."
- Looking for ways to integrate technology into your program?
Polar
can help!
- Beth
Kirkpatrick suggests that the PEP bill is part of the No Child
Left Behind Act.
- Read
about the "The New PE In Action"
- Most PEP grants include a significant dollar application for
equipment. Please remember to support PELINKS4U site sponsors
(logos on this site). These folk have demonstrated a commitment
to supporting quality physical education!
PELINKS4U wishes all applicants the best of luck. Don't make the
mistake of thinking that your application will not be successful.
That's exactly what other applicants are hoping you will think!
Simply going through the application process will collect information
you can use for future grants.
