THANKS
GIVING TIME
As 2006 comes to a close, on behalf of all of us involved with
pelinks4u, I'd like to extend our best
wishes to you, your students, and your families. We hope you enjoy
a healthy and happy holiday season.
As you are well aware, the monthly publication of pelinks4u
is brought to you absolutely free due to the combined
efforts of many great volunteers and several site sponsors. Thanks
(yours and mine) are especially due to the following:
Terry Covey, pelinks4u Webmaster:
Terri is responsible for the web site design and all of the site
features. Each month Terri prepares all of the sections, ensures
all of the links work, and gets our publication online on the 1st.
If a section needs more information Terri finds it, and on occasions
has been totally responsible for various sections. In truth, Terri
does most of the work for which the rest of us often get credit!
pelinks4u Section Editors:
Each of the seven sections included in the monthly pelinks4u
publication are created by volunteer section editors. Our editors
include current and retired schoolteachers, college professors,
and others working in health and fitness related occupations. These
individuals generously donate their time to writing, or locating
information to share with you. Without them there would be no pelinks4u.
Paula Summit, NASPE Forum Coordinator: December
marks the completion of two years that pelinks4u has sponsored the
NASPE Forum. Throughout this time Paula Summit, a former New York
State Elementary Teacher of the Year and most recently Past President
of the NY AAHPERD, has coordinated and moderated the forum postings.
The forum has proved to be a great location for posting messages,
hosting discussions, and soliciting information. If you haven't
visited it, take a look and thank Paula for all of her excellent
work.
Central Washington University Computer
Services: After several years of pelinks4u
residing on a hosted server, CWU staff agreed to support our publication
on university servers. We're extremely fortunate to have a great
group of people maintaining the web site, and also facilitating
the monthly emailing of PE News.
The CWU Foundation and CWU Graduate
School: pelinks4u is managed as a not-for-profit
program within the university's foundation. We are greatly indebted
to the staff, and especially Kerri and Vicki,
for maintaining our financial records. Through a graduate assistantship
from the CWU Graduate School we have also been fortunate to be able
to recruit editorial assistance (most recently Anjee
and Andrea) for pelinks4u.
The CWU HHPN Department:
For the past 3 years, pelinks4u has exhibited at national
and state conventions. Several of our section editors have also
come from the department. We are extremely grateful for HHPN support,
and especially convention assistance from our department office
managers Rhonda and Ardath. Thanks
too to the many work study students (especially Heather,
Rochelle, and Brenna) who contribute
in various ways to supporting pelinks4u.
pelinks4u Site Sponsors:
Since pelinks4u began 8 years ago we have received financial
support from several companies and organizations. New
Lifestyles, GOPHER, Sportime,
and the Phi Epsilon Kappa Fraternity
have supported us from the beginning! Speed
Stacks, Texas Woman's University,
Exercise Express, Toledo
PE Supply, Athletic Stuff, Everlast
Climbing Industry, Winter Feels Good,
and BowlersEd.com are current site
sponsors. Site sponsorships have enabled pelinks4u to grow
and promote quality physical education. Please be sure to visit
and support these sponsors in order to show your appreciation for
their support to this website.
Since its inception pelinks4u has grown to become one
of the most popular US physical education web sites. In November,
we averaged more than 3000 'unique' daily visits with readers from
over 100 countries. As a reader, your motivation to learn more about
what's happening in physical education is responsible for our popularity.
For that we thank you too!
Wherever you are this holiday season, we encourage you to take
time to enjoy the best of the physical activities that are available
to you. Here in the Pacific Northwest, it's time for us to get out
the skis, snowboards, and snowshoes and head for the hills. Stay
healthy! See you in 2007.
Best Holiday Wishes,
Steve Jefferies, pelinks4u publisher
