Adapted - Does anyone have any fun games for a visually impaired student. This is my first experience with a visually impaired student and I am looking for some exciting activities for the student to do while in class. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please share in the forum.
Coaching - I have coached before at the youth level for baseball. I have coached 8-12 year olds and I have also coached 16-18 year olds. At what point or age group do you think is appropriate for the skill level to be a factor in the playing time of an athlete instead of playing everyone as much as possible or as equally as possible? Please post in the forum.
Elementary - Hi. My name is Luciana, and I teach Elementary PE in an american school in Brazil. I'd like to know how many classes PE teachers are used to teach a week. I teach 24 elementary + 2 high school a week. I'm feeling overwhelmed and I would like to know if other PE teachers teach this amount of classes. Please share in the forum.
Health, Fitness & Nutrition - Do you believe students should be allowed to drink water in school? This is not asking if carbonated or caffeinated beverages should be allowed, but if water and only water could be carried by kids. Would not every ones health benefit if they drank more water?   Interdisciplinary - My school district is saying that I need to have a Math or Reading standard in my lesson everyday. I have a few good ideas but not enough to get me through the whole year. Does anyone have any good ideas for the Middle School years? Please post.
Secondary - I just read the post people left about self-defense. Thats one of the first things I've read anywhere involving both PE and self-defense.

When I was in school I did nothing related to self defense. Now I'm a junior and physical education major at Towson University. I have recently been given the assignment of writing a unit plan on "Self-Defense" for grades 3-5 (I know this is a forum for HS but I haven't found much for anything). Obviously its my assignment, I should do it myself, but I am right now sitting in my library which includes no books on self defense that can be incorporated into the classroom/gymnasium.

Since alot of you are teachers out there, I was wondering if you had any experience teaching it, and at least had some basic concepts to get me started. I have tried to search the internet for things as well, and have not found much AT ALL. I've even looked through sites with unit and lesson plans, and they seem to have EVERYTHING but self-defense. I'm running out of options (and time) and didn't know what else to do. Any kind of feedback or places to look for information from anyone would be extremely helpful, thanks.   Technology - I've been thinking about getting the Nike shoes that have the IPOD technology in them. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced them, and whether they are a waste or actually helpful. Please share in the forum.
