We have collected some articles
that are written by our fellow teachers in the field. I am sure
that you will all find something that you can use in your teaching.
If there is something else that you would like to see,

There are also some web sites

"I've come to a frightening
conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It's
my personal approach that creates the climate. It's my daily mood
that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess a tremendous power
to make a child's life miserable, or joyous. I can be a tool of
torture, or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor,
hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides
whether a crisis will be escalated, or de-escalated; and a child
humanized, or de-humanized."

- Omaha Public Schools

- Elementary Physical
Education
This link from the Omaha
Public School System offers a long list of activities used
in this district. I am sure that you will find something that
you can use in your own teaching. Individual skills have been
identified and supplemental activities for many of these skills
have been located. Simply click on a theme that interests
you to see a list of activities!
Internet Projects
Here are some Internet "projects" that you can do with your
elementary students. They are all from McGraw-Hill. Each one
applies principles you teach all the time. These give your
students another way to learn about and better understand
your curriculum.
- Create
a Fitness Character
This link from McGraw-Hill offers a project for 3rd graders
where they use the Internet to create a cartoon fitness character.
It is an integration of Art Education, Language Arts and Physical
Education. This site takes you through step by step in the
creation of the character. There is an accompanying section
in a McGraw Hill health textbook that is included inthis project.
This activity can be completed with, or without this text.

- Create
a Fitness Quiz
This link will walk you and your 5th graders through an on-line
process where they will create a fitness quiz. They will be
given both myths and facts about fitness and will be required
to know the difference. This will reinforce what you are already
teaching in your physical education classes.
- Demonstrate
a Stretch
This link will show your students the proper way to stretch.
They will learn to identify common injuries that can occur
during physical activity through this on-line activity. They
will also learn how to prevent injury during an activity.
Finally they will get to demonstrate a stretch.
