- All others copy these ideas.
- Play music with strong base beat that the kids can hear.

- The other side remains sitting with their ropes.
- When music starts, The side that is sitting down claps out
the beat of the music.
- On your signal, the people standing, begin to jump rope so
their rope hits the floor when the other kids hands clap (to
match the beat of the music).
Skill Development:
- All get a gator ball and sit around the center red
circle.
- Play "7 Jumps" and have kids try to figure out the 3 parts of
the game:
- Carrying the ball around the gym.
- Stopping.
- Bouncing the ball.
- Go through sequence with kids moving throughout the gym.
- *ANYONE WHO BOUNCES THE BALL AT THE WRONG TIME IS OUT UNTIL
THE "BOUNCING PART" COMES BACK IN THE MUSIC.
- This will force them to listen to the music to know when to
come back into the game.
- All sit in scattered position in gym with their gator ball.
- Play "Move Like a Machine."
- Tell kids that these are recordings from outer space.
- Relate story of John Glen and the "sparks" he saw out his
window while in space.
- They are to try to figure out how the thing that would make
that sound would move.
- They then move like that "thing" in their own self-space
with their ball.
- Play each part of "Move Like a Machine" separately
- Have kids figure out ways to move to match the noise.
- Demonstrate some of the ideas.
- All get into groups of 4-6 with their gator balls.
- Repeat parts of "move like a machine"
- Groups now work together to be synchronized with their
movements.
- Demonstrate different ideas.
