NEW LIFESTYLES Introduces NEW Products, NEW School Kits and a NEW Teacher's Activity Guide
Brightly colored, hip and designed to appeal to today's children and teens, NEW LIFESTYLES new school kits contain everything you need to get your pedometer program started on the right foot.
NEW LIFESTYLES now offers four types of kits: elementary and secondary versions of our premium kit (WOW), our Get You Started kit (GUS), and our Bare Essentials kit (BEK). (GUS and BEK kits work for either elementary or secondary students.) All kits are available exclusively through NEW LIFESTYLES.
Kits range in price depending on the model of pedometer you choose and the quantity of pedometers you need. Four pedometer models are available, ranging from the SW-200 model, which counts only steps, to the SW-701 model, which measures steps, distance and calories. Kits ship with one security strap for each pedometer, and an organizer box.
Premium WOW kits include Teaching with Pedometers, our 90-page teacher's activity guidebook with worksheet copy masters. Included in the book are nearly 40 age-appropriate activity ideas, many of which make use of products in the kits such as our Walk Across Hawaii and Walk Across America Challenge Charts and our Did You Walk? CD workout.
Premium kits also include items to help you promote your program to families and the community - such as posters, a calendar, sample press releases and guidelines for working with the media, and letters explaining the program to parents (photocopy these and send them home with students!).
To motivate students to add a little spring to their step, we have designed several items you can use as incentives and prizes. New prizes include take-home challenge charts, pocket folders and DIGI-Os (colorful, plastic discs with health-related messages that can be worn on shoelaces, backpacks, etc.).
Secondary WOW kits ship with one NL-2000 activity monitor, which allows you to determine your basal metabolic rate (BMR). Teachers can use the NL-2000 as a tool to explain energy balance (how calorie intake vs. calorie expenditure figures into losing or gaining weight). Secondary kits do not include elementary-oriented products such as the Did You Walk? CD workout, rubber stamps and DIGI-Os.
Get You Started kits include 15 or 30 pedometers, security straps and an organizer box, and selected support materials (a user's guide, a calendar, posters and one challenge chart). Bare Essentials kits include 15 pedometers, security straps, an organizer box and a few support materials.
