Wanted to let you know that the Coleman Everest 5.5 Challenge site is done and ready to go. You can register your school and classes at:
http://colemaneverest.pecentral.org
You and your students have until April 19, 2007 to register. Students can log their physical activity minutes and / or steps and virtually climb to the summit of Mount Everest. They can start logging now after you register your school.
Students then register and then they can participate.
There is a cool flash map that shows their progress up the mountain and they can learn about the Everest region every step of the way.
In addition they can go to this site and follow Mike Haugen's, an 8th grade science teacher, progress as he is actually climbing the mountain. I am really enjoying following his progress as he sends down daily blogs and videos from his journey.

Come and join in the fun. Students have to be active 20 out of the 30 days of the hike. Registration ends on April 19 and the entire hike is finished on May 11.
The site is for elementary, middle and high school - aged students.
