Why would someone seek a teaching position at a college or university level? What are the rewards inherent in such a position? |

I am a college student considering higher education to become a college professor. I think the rewards would include money and having a greater impact on physical education and health in the future. Teaching university students how to handle their PE classes is the same as teaching a K-12 student valuable lessons. That is ofcourse if you become a good college/university professor. |

Pension and health benfits are a couple good selling points for such a position. To the best of my knowledge teaching at a State University provides all the perks accorded to any state employee. It always pays to be a gov't employee. Naturally the depth of your teaching material would be a huge bonus when dealing with older, more developed and capable minds. I'd say there's no better way to go, but personally can't stomach the idea of remaining a student for as long as it takes to become a professor. |
