Adapted - Is there any classes out there that are teaching the wheelchair sports in any form to their students? I'm a big fan of Murderball (Wheelchair Rugby) and Wheelchair basketball and wish I would have had the opportunity to learn them in my high school even though I don't meet the qualifications to actually play. I watched them for the first time when I got to college and was in shock at how much I liked each. Please post in the forum.
Coaching - I am looking to teach elementary physical education in the near future. In my opinion I think competition in a necessary part of the class. I was wondering what some other opinions on this are, and if you think that competition should not be a big part in physical education class then how do you as a teacher motivate the students that want to compete at everything? Please post in the forum.
Elementary - My county administration has recently informed us that all of our schools have to take down all of our climbing ropes. I believe this is due to a liability or pending lawsuit. What can be done about this? Please post in the forum.
Health, Fitness & Nutrition - How are teachers in states that promote abstinence in their health education classes supposed to educate on the topic of safe sex when its not supposed to be happening at all? Please share in the forum.
Interdisciplinary - Do you believe that physical educators should spend class time trying to integrate academic content into their lessons or should they focus on teaching skills and developing health-related fitness? Please post in the forum.
Secondary - I am a Physical Education major wishing to teach and coach at the secondary level. A problem that I have noticed in other school systems is that some schools offer a Weight Training class in place of their Physical Education class. I am in support of teaching weight training into the Physical Education curriculum, but am unsure about the idea of giving the choice to students about replacing Physical Education with strictly weight training. I was wondering what are some other thoughts on this topic. Please post in the forum.
Technology - I am currently working on a research project involving web-based and multimedia project-based learning. I am trying to answer the question "How effective are web-based and multimedia based technology tools in teaching gross motor movements, and how well do they help relate the importance of these skills to life-long activity and health?" My test subjects are 3rd graders at my school. If anyone has any experience with web-based lessons or multimedia projects in physical education I would sure like to hear about it? Please post in the forum.
