Adapted - I am interested in any suggestions that anyone might have regarding adapting a gymnastics class/lesson for obese children (age 6-12). If you have suggestions, please post on the forum.
Coaching - I am a Physical Education teacher as well as a coach. I had an incident a few weeks ago in which 4 athletes in my class skipped PE because they had a game that night. They felt they would be "too exhaused" for their game. What are your feelings about athletes participating in PE on game day? Please post in the forum.
Elementary - I am looking for new and exciting playground games that have been successful with elementary children. Please help! Please post on the forum.
Health, Fitness & Nutrition - Please share ideas you've used for helping students to understand the important relationship between staying active and keeping a healthy heart. Share your ideas in the forum.
Interdisciplinary - Recently, I have been teaching a game which includes doing jumping jacks to elementary age students. I have been discovering that many children have difficulty doing jumping jacks correctly. When I have spoken to other adults about this they have told me that several adults cannot do jumping jacks correctly either. Do you know what part of the brain must function correctly for a person to peform jumping jacks correctly? Or in other words, is there a correlation between cognition and the ability to do jumping jacks correctly? Please post in the forum.
Secondary - I have this horrible student. He comes into class higher than a kite, and only does what he feels like doing, no matter how hard I try to get him to enjoy the activities. I have tried to have him choose the sport or activity, yet he won't play and will leave when he chooses. He also often blurts out swear words. I teach at an ALC, and these students have issues, yet I am at my wits end. Any help? Please post in the forum.
Technology - Does anyone use heart rate monitors? How do you use assessment with them? Where did your school get the money to pay for them? Please post in the forum.
