Adapted - I have a question and need some help! I have a student who has a clubfoot and she has trouble running in P.E. class. It is difficult when we play any game that involves running. Is there any way to include her in all activities without pointing out her disability to the whole class? Are there any stretches or exercises that would be beneficial to her? Please answer in the forum.
Coaching - I think that there has always been the idea the more is better in everything we do in America. On the other hand I think that many track athletes are getting injured or peaking/ breaking down, because they are running too much or trying to run too many meets in a season. I also feel that a distance runner can not have a successful cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track season all in a row. You have to back off and train through at least one of them. These of course are all my ideas and feelings for training, but I am open for other suggestions or opinions Please share in the forum.
Elementary - As a PE major one thing that they're stressing is that the students should be active for at least 50% of the class time. One thing they say takes up too much time is Management, such as taking attendance. Any fun, faster, effective ways of taking attendance in a classroom? Please share in the forum.
Health, Fitness & Nutrition - Children seem to crave fast food these days. Parents may not have time to cook a balanced meal at home, so fast food is the easy way to feed their kids. As a future teacher, how do you get your students to understand that sometimes they may need to take control of their own eating habits? Please share in the forum.
Interdisciplinary - I know that when starting a new work out routine, it can be hard to do because most people want results right away, and it is not that easy. As future physical educators, we are going to have overweight children in our classes. We can tell them how important it is to be physically active and how it will make them healthier, but unless they see results right away, they might get discouraged. What do you think would be a good way to go about handling the discouragement that could potentially face many overweight students? Please share.
Secondary - As a current pe student, I was wondering when and if you ever learn about some of the non day to day issues a pe teacher may deal with such as breaking up a fight, dealing with parents etc. I am excited to learn everything I need to learn about how to run a class, but what about the real life situations that may come up?   Technology - In one of my college level courses we are starting to work with pedometers. I have heard of them, seen people wearing them but I have never used one myself. This being because in my high school PE classes we were stuck in the same routine each year, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Tennis/Softball. Pedometers count step count so what I want to know is how would you incorporate pedometers into your classes if you had to stick with that same curriculum that I had in my high school because of limited equipment?
