In this issue of Technology Education, I would like to cover some
important details for easy computer maintenace tips, E-adventures
- a hands-on, real world experience in all areas of technology and
its something the students will love to do.
Included in this technology presentation will be some tech tips
to be used with a power point program, and two valuable websites
that promote health and physical education for public relations
and a valuable tool to integrate and inform the parents, community
and administration that we are real teachers capable of being a
viable part of an overall education.
Also, I would like to introduce a new and improved audio program
that will improve our listening skills and an informative and relaxing
vehicle for improvement of technological trends. This may be incorporated
as a learning experience or teaching tool resource.
Sincerely,
Gerry Cernicky

PRESENTATION
SOFTWARE:
- This includes Powerpoint, Star Office and other packages that
include authoring tools and HTML.This can be used to help streamline
student notetaking procedures, introduce more gripping visuals
when illustrating concepts, and to help them oraganize thoughts
more clearly. They will begin to naturally apply this deper understanding
to their own presentations and become familiar with the software.
- Word processors
- Spreadsheets
- Presentation packages
Use a presentation package or projection aid to present one
of your favorite activites in health or physical education. Schedule
on a weekly basis so that they become used to seeing you using
the package.
Modify this as necessary depending on the resources available. These
projects can range from a book report to creative demonstrations
.
SPREEDSHEET SOFTWARE:
Use EXCEL or STAR OFFICE to provide functionality for tracking data
, generating graphs or calculating formulas.Integrate them into all
areas of the curriculum.
- Begin with an introduction to the concept of data and attributes.
A good data sample can be generated focusing on human attributes
such as gender, hair color, eye color, etc.
- Identify the attributes you wish to track and enter into a
spreadsheet.
- Generate several graphs and pie charts that visually illustrate
the data collected.
- Begin to work towrds a natural integration strategy that they
will use this tool often.
