Play by the RULES. BEHAVE or you'll not get to play. Dress out properly. Lock up your stuff. Be POLITE. Warm-up. STRETCH a lot. Take Turns. Share. Make friends. Tolerate DIFFERENCES of others. Consider the FEELINGS of others. Give everyone a CHANCE. Get along. Be humble. COOL DOWN. Cheaters never really win. Winners never cheat. Don't tear up the equipment. Put stuff back where you got it. The Olympics and Olympism
PELINKS4U brings you more sites and information to share with your students about the Olympics.
OIympic History
The first Olympic Games were held in 776 BC. They began as a religious festival, were held every four years and continued for a thousand years. They were held in a sacred, fertile valley of Ancient Greece at a place called Olympia.

Olympic Highlights
The IOC has a site that brings you weekly highlights of Olympic events around the world.

Humanitarian Olympics
Can sport become a means for positive change? In most humanitarian situations children have no structured, supervised activities in which to take part, and no outlet to take their minds off their problems. Sport helps to overcome idleness and boredom, and to build friendships, tolerance and understanding: universal values which form the core of Olympism as it is defined in the Olympic Charter.

Did you know that almost every state has a State Olympic Committee and many have an Olympic Alumni group? The USOC can get you in contact with them. The Athletes, especially, are usually very willing to come to talk to students about their experiences

John Williams reports that he loaded the software, filled out the required information and was up and running in less than five minutes. "Good connections and clear for awhile and then there was an echo and sometimes it broke up...seems to work better if the other person is not on a walkabout phone...It's sort of like talking on an old cell phone or walkie talkie...I talked for about 35 minutes and it didn't cost me anything! All in all it's a trip and I wouldn't recommend making any serious business calls or anything, but if you know someone and they understand some of the problems associated with it, hey go for it."
