COACHING & SPORT: How does everyone feel about a coach training with his/her team. For instance if i was a coach and had a morning workout for my team, would it be aproperate for me to run, lift, and do other activites with them to keep myself in shape and also show them that it is important. I think by doing this the team would be closer with me enjoy the workout more. What are your thoughts? Please share in the forum. |
GENERAL: I heard the other day people talking about PE being more of a hassle to high school students than benefitial. They are too worried, and say that it interfers with the way they look and smell throughout the day and it does not help them at all. What these students do not know is that PE is going to not really benefit them as much now as it will later in life. When they start to get old and stiff, they will know a solution to the problem instead of just sitting around and doing nothing. What does everyone else think of these comments. I say one word... Get a shower. Please share. |
ELEMENTARY PHYSICAL EDUCATION: Is there anyone who gives out certificates or awards to their students created in Microsoft Publisher? I feel as though these rewards would be a great way to get kids active and ultimately want to achieve something at the end of a class or unit. They are very quick and easy to create, so I was just wondering if any teachers gave these out to their students. Please share in the forum. |
HEALTH: I was just wondering what other health teachers are doing about fad diets in health classes. I personally don't believe in them, but is it right for me to let that interfere with my education. When I say fad diets I really mean the Atkins Diet, the South Beach Diet, and any other of these "new" diets that are just coming on to the market. I personally believe in a well balanced diet. However, I'm not sure whether it is fair of me to provide a biased approach to teaching nutrition. Please share in the forum. |
SECONDARY PHYSICAL EDUCATION: As a current pe student, I was wondering when and if you ever learn about some of the non day to day issues a pe teacher may deal with such as breaking up a fight, dealing with parents etc. I am excited to learn everything I need to learn about how to run a class, but what about the real life situations that may come up? TECHNOLOGY IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION: I love my iPod. Whenever I workout I always have it with me. My music really helps me get pumped up and makes my workout go a little faster. I know in my high school P.E. classes when we would be in certain units that allowed for it my P.E. teacher would put on music, but there was always someone who didn't like it or sometimes people would get offended. Is it a good idea to allow students to listen to their iPods during P.E. classes? Please share in the forum. |
TECHNOLOGY IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION: In our profession technology is bringing in new ways to teach our classes everyday. Even to the point where the technology itself is beginning to teach on its own. I would just like to know if technology is becoming too advanced for Physical Education and if someday we as educators may become obselete? Please share in the forum. |
