32 I+have+been+slowly+teaching+a+down+syndrome+child%2cone+on+one+in+their+home%2cand+I+have+done+stations+that+lead+up+to+more+advanced+skills%2eI+have+hit+a+wall+where+it+comes+to+pronated+knees+and+the+weak+neck+but+after+all+the+assessments+the+doctor+could+do+he+just+told+me+to+do+what+I+think+is+best%2eFunny+huh%3f%21Unfortunately+you+will+have+to+include+everyone+in+these+stations%2eBut+fortunately+every+child+could+benefit%2eTry+a+long+jump+station%2ca+jump+up+station%2ca+balance+beam%28floor+beam%29+station%2ca+cone+obstacle+course+with+beanbags+on+their+heads%2ca+type+of+hopscotch+station%2ca+stationary+bicycle+station+with+those+little+cranks+you+can+use+with+a+chair%2ca+balance+station+with+balance+boards%2cetc%2e%2eAnd+a+gymnastics+station+that+is+supervised%2ePair+them+first+with+skill+level+so+they+aren%27t+intimidated%2cthen+mix+and+mingle+them+so+they+get+a+little+incentive%2eGood+luck%2eAnd+let+me+know+of+anything+you+learn+it+could+help+me+too%2e
33 I+have+not+found+much+information+on+things+to+do+that+is+not+a+repeat+of+what+the+rest+of+the+class+has+already+done+%28before+they+go+onto+the+rolls%2e%2e%2e%29+Granted%2c+my+kids+with+Down+Syndrom+can+certainly+use+the+extra+work+at+previous+skills%2e+%0a%0a++++One+thing+I+did+find+are+%26quot%3bbalance+puzzles%2e%26quot%3b+I+cannot+remember+who+I+got+them+from%2e+%28If+this+person+is+reading+this+message%2c+please+tell+us+who+yu+are%2e%29+They+basically+work+this+way%2e+I+cut+out+pictures+of+hands%2c+feet%2c+circles+%28for+elbows%29%2c+rectangles+%28for+knees%29+and+2+half+circles+side+by+side+%28for+a+bottom%29%2e+They+are+placed+in+different+patterns+on+a+piece+of+paper+that+the+kids+need+to+copy+on+a+mat%2e+I+laminated+the+papers+to+use+from+year+to+year%2e+They+have+to+balance+their+bodies+using+only+what+is+pictured+on+each+page%2e+I+have+about+10+different+pages%2e+They+really+enjoy+them+and+are+very+proud+when+they+figure+one+out%2e+%0a%0a++++They+do+egg+rolls+and+log+rolls%2c+but+so+do+the+rest+of+their+classmates%2e+%0a%0a++++That+is+about+all+that+I+have+up+to+now%2e
34 Yes+I%27ve+used+those+before+also%2eI+do+cartwheel+mats%28visual+hands+and+feet%29%2cHandstands+where+she+stands+looking+away+from+the+wall+to+start+and+walks+her+feet+up+the+wall%28that+way+they+only+go+as+far+up+as+they+feel+safe%29%2chandstand+kick+drills%28first+stand+in+a+lunge+then+touch+hands+down+and+bring+them+up%29%2c%28then+add+a+jump%29%2c%28then+a+higher+kick%29%2eI+have+done+backward+rolls+off+a+mat+that+is+as+high+as+a+couch+because+with+a+pillow+under+her+hed+and+it+high+enough+she+puts+little+or+no+pressure+on+her+head+and+neck%2eBut+that+is+the+hardest+I%27ve+done%2eTreid+forward+rolls+after+I+taught+her+a+head%2fneck+tuck+for+a+long+time+so+she+doesn%27t+roll+on+her+head%2e
387 As+I+gave+it+some+thought+Sensory%2dmotor+activities+might+be+appropriate%2e+An+excellent+source+for+these+in+my+school+district+has+been+Physical+Therapists%2e+%0a%0aExamples+of+stuff+we+did+on+mats%0a%0aTracking+a+hanging+ball+%28or+whatever%29while+it+swings+forward%2fback%2c+side+to+side%2c+clockwise+and+counter+clockwise%2e+%0a%0aTrace+simple+patterns+in+the+air+with+feet%2e+%0a%0aVarious+balances+on+hands+and+knees+both+with+stomach+down+or+crab+walk+position%2e%0a%0aKnee+walking+sideways%2c+backwards%2c+and+forwards%2e
