Using the
pictures in conjunction with a word processing program (MS Word, Word
Perfect) is an easy and effective way to develop teaching tools.
In most word
processing programs you will open the program, create a document and then
use the insert feature to place a photo onto the page. You can resize the
photo and type information on the same page and therefore this is a
fantastic way to develop task cards for use in station teaching. Now when
the students go to the station they can see the skill be completed and this
will greatly reduce the number of questions!
Using your
photos for assessment purposes is another idea. You could take pictures of
students performing skills and then add either a checklist, rating scale or
rubric to the page and have the students do either self or peer assessment
tasks.
Creative
writing is one way to collaborate with other teachers to develop
interdisciplinary assignments. For example a picture could be selected and
the students would need to write a story based on what they think the
student is doing. This is a great way to have creative writing activities
support physical education tasks.
