Winter Orienteering
Many of us already teach some form of orienteering during our
school year. Why not reinforce these concepts with a winter orienteering activity?
Reading a map and compass should be a familiar activity at this point so teaching
time is spent instead on the method of locomotion - skiing or snowshoeing. This
activity is a great way to spice up a traditional cross-country skiing or snowshoeing
unit, and could even be a culminating race or event!
