Creating a Positive Environment in Your Physical Education Space

Gym Motivators Physical Education Posters

Choose a monthly theme and create your setting based on your theme.

Example: Respect in Physical Education

  • Create an instant bulletin board using Gym Motivators "Character and Respect in Physical Education" poster set.
  • Use the posters' content as you discuss your expectations for classroom behavior at the beginning of the school year.

Integrate physical education concepts with the seasons or holidays to make creative displays.

Example: Jumping for Joy in Physical Education!

  • Take pictures of students doing various jump rope skills and display with words and holly leaves.

Use special events as teachable moments to be integrated into physical education.

Example: Catch the Olympic Spirit!

  • Collect pictures and information about various Olympic events to create an educational display for the whole school. Do you know what the "skeleton" is?
  • Be sure to discuss them with your students and have physical activities to correspond with the display.

Coordinate the unit you're teaching with the displays in your gym.

Example: Gym Motivators "Fitness" Poster Set provides excellent visual reinforcement when you're teaching specific fitness concepts. These are great for helping outsiders to understand what is being accomplished in your physical education classes.

Create homework for students to return and add to bulletin boards.

Example: Have interested students draw pictures illustrating good sportsmanship. Have Gym Motivators "Healthy Competition" poster surrounded by the best artwork for an instant bulletin board or wall art. This provides a good opportunity for students who might not otherwise excel in physical education to have a chance to shine in your class.

Other Helpful Hints:

  • Plan ahead so bulletin boards can be easily changed when the time comes.
  • Save yourself some work by having students who are "out of commission" put up or take down displays.
  • Alternate your own creative displays with Gym M
