Sample Rubric for the above sample:
The above sample has three types of rubric to assess the different components and requirements. Explaining the rubrics to the pupils will help them know what they they are working towards for the 3 parts of the hand out. It is important to look into the handouts and learn why pupils do not attempt any part of the handout - ie score 0 on the rubric. As educator it is important to look beyond the surface regarding task incompletion - it might not be simple carelessness. Did they understand the task requirements or do they need any additional help. Is there an alternative way in which they can illustrate their understanding and would prefer to use for example the oral mode to respond to the last section ?
Rubric 1 : Re: Coloring the above picture.
1 = Pupil colors in the picture (ie is able to follow directions).
0 = Pupil did not attempt to colour in the picture
Rubric 2 : Re : Picture to illustrate a way in which children can work well with others during the PE class.
2 = Pupil's drawing clearly indicates that pupil can illustrate an example of building teamwork or supporting others during PE OR pupil can stick a picture illustrating an example of teambuilding or supporting others.
1= Pupil's drawing does not provide a correct example of building teamwork or supporting others during PE.
0= Pupil did not attempt to colour picture.
Rubric 3 : Re: Writing a list of ways to describe how to work well with others during PE.
NB : When I tried this handouts with my pupils, it was the pupils themselves who established how many examples would constitute a 1or 2 rating- through group discussion. Involving the pupils in developing their own rubrics enables them to develop ownership over their own assessments and encourages them to be active in the learning-assessment process itself.
2 = Pupil can clearly list 3 or more examples.
1 = Pupil can clearly list 1-2 examples
0 = Pupil did not attempt to list any examples.
