Orienteering
Hillary Lampard
This unit plan for orienteering is intended to be a cooperative learning unit for physical education, math and social studies. It is designed for use at the high school level. With some modification, it would also be appropriate for younger students. (Editor's Note: This is one of the BEST units. Be sure to take a look!)

Water Sports
Marie Smith
The purpose of this unit is to introduce students to various water sports and the safety entailed within them. The unit will integrate physical education, fitness, outdoor, and life concepts to the students. The students will be introduced to boat safety, water-skiing skills, and wake boarding skills and learn how to become involved an exciting world of water.

Beginning Golf
Jeff Olson
This unit plan was created for teachers interested in instructing golf at the beginning level. It is designed to teach students some of the basic elements of golf and give tips to the more intermediate golfer.

 Online Curriculum Resources

Faced with revising your curriculum? Daunted by the task of developing specific objectives and assessments? Want to see what others are doing? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions you may be like us wondering if too many folk are reinventing the wheel!

While physical education and health curriculums certainly need to be locally appropriate maybe it's not necessary for teachers to start from scratch. In our state (Washington) so many teachers live in rural areas and just don't have the time or resources to devote to comprehensive curriculum revisions.

Fortunately, this may not be necessary. Several larger school districts have devoted hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to completing this task so why not learn and borrow from them? For example the Ontario Physical and Health Education Association (OPHEA) based on Toronto Canada has a wonderful collection of curriculum resources you can freely access.

You do need to register as a member but that is free and available to anyone. In return you can enjoy some fantastic curriculum materials that others have developed. Take them and modify as needed to suit your school or district. Click here.

 Editorial: Online Unit Plans

Depending on the length of time you have been a PELINKS4U reader you may or may not know about the existence of many online unit plans.

These plans were developed by students at Central Washington University. They cover a variety of different teaching topics and as you might expect vary a lot in quality. All units do however include a list of references so that if the topic interests you it would be easy to find more information.

To access these units you need to click on the "Click Down" menu bar at the top left side of this (and every) page. Highlight "Teaching Unit Plans" and you'll see the list of what's available.

WARNING: Several of the students recently graduated so their units are currently unavailable. Over the next week or so we will be attempting to transfer the units onto the PELINKS4U server. If you see something that is not working please make a note to revisit. If it still isn't working after a week or so drop us an e-mail reminder and we will attempt to fix.

Finally, if you have students producing similar kinds of instructional aids please let us know. We would love to feature them. Thanks for your interest and support.
