Integrated Teaching Ideas

Letter Collectors

Index cards with a letter on each are placed around the room on the floor. Students (working in small groups) are each given a ball and told to bounce the balls so that they land on a letter. When their ball touches a letter, they pick it up, and deliver it to a "Speller" from their team who tries to make a word all of the other letters that have been brought to him/her. After each correct word is spelled out, the teacher places the used letters in a pile for students to place on the floor and bounce at again. Points are given for each successful word spelling.
