 Editorial

Welcome back to school! I hope your summer vacation was both relaxing and educational.

For the theme of Back to School, I present to you two interdisciplinary ideas for class management and two resources for integrated curriculum, which may not be new to many of you but are huge repositories of activities and teaching tips.

This column marks the end of my section editor tenure with PE Links. After 3 years, it is time for new ideas and new blood.  I wish all of you well and best success on the start of the new academic year.

Interdisciplinary Lesson Plans #2 & Standards

Back in the late 1990s, the state of New Jersey created and published education standards, some of which directly relate to interdisciplinary physical education and are still relevant today.  In the New Jersey Comprehensive Health Education & PE Curriculum Framework, you will find interdisciplinary lesson plans and teaching tips in pdf format related to Movement (Chapter 8, Standard 2.5, 60 pages) and Fitness (Chapter 8, Standard 2.6, 44 pages), and arranged by grade level (K-4, 5-8, 9-12).
