GHB was originally sold at health food stores as a food supplement
that allegedly enhanced growth hormone production among bodybuilders.
It is now sold illegally as a party drug. GHB can cause coma-like
stupor and general anesthesia and thus, is also used as a date rape
drug. To read more about GHB visit the Project

All teachers are blessed with the opportunity to shape the lives
of the young people who pass through the doors of their classrooms.
As health and physical educators we are especially advantaged.
We spend our days exploring the physical, emotional, social, spiritual,
and intellectual domains. Daily, we make a commitment to
guiding our students to live up to their true potential. How best
do we bring out in our students all that they truly can be?
By being the best we can be. In 1995, Nelson Mandela made
this captivating inaugural address:
Achieving Our Dreams With Others
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest
fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light,
not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented,
and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve
the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within
us. It’s not just in some of us, it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other
people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically
liberates others.”

Help for Eating Disorders
Eating Disorders are disabling illnesses that affect between 1-3 percent
of young women in the United States. The Office on Women’s Health
is sponsoring the "BodyWise
Eating Disorders Educational Campaign" targeting middle school
educators and providers. The goal of the program is to increase awareness
and knowledge of eating disorders, including their signs and symptoms,
steps to take when concerned about students, and ways to promote healthy
eating and reduce preoccupation with weight and size. An information
packet is available that includes materials emphasizing the links
among healthy eating, positive body image, and favorable learning
outcomes, with some materials targeted to specific racial and ethnic
groups.
