New Year has come! Some say that this is the true start of the new millennium! What strides has the Physical Education profession done
thus far and where will it go from now on in this era?
Well, rather than waiting for things to happen, we are getting things to roll! We hope to contribute actively to promoting quality physical education practices for our young pupils. The role of physical educators today is being re-defined in view of recent developments in educational research. We DO have an important role to play in the holistic education of young learners.
To achieve this, we might need to update - to grow and change as we incorporate new learnings into our teaching and our practices. We also need to keep the
enthusiasm for teaching alight in our hearts too...
...and here I share with you a quote from Henry Ford.
"Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young."
So join us on this exciting learning curve! The team of Section Editors on this page are trying to provide information we hope you will find informative and useful. Please help us make this your site too - let us know how we can better this page, share your ideas and feel free to share your contributions. You can email us to hop on board !

UNESCO documents
The recommendations for PE developed during the World Summit, MINEPS III (November '99), can pave the way for setting up guidelines needed. At the Unesco Site (check the Events link in the left hand column) useful documents have been put together in collaboration with the International Council for Sports Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE).
You can also read the International Charter for PE (1978), and reflect on how far we have, or have not, come since this document was published.
"International co-operation is a prerequisite for the universal and well-balanced promotion of physical education and sport"
Article 11 : International Charter for Physical Education (UNESCO, 1978).
An Education Magazine dedicates entire issue to developments in PE.
Last November's issue of Northwest Education Magazine featured an entire issue on "New Moves : PE reinvents itself".
The issue contains several articles of interest.
