Welcome to the elementary edition of PELINKS4U. I attended the NYS AHPERD conference at the Hudson Valley Resort in Kerhonkson, NY mid-November where Ken Cooper was the keynote speaker. He was both inspirational and informative at the same time. His research had made our existence credible and valuable.

Better Sports for Better Kids
The
goal of the National Alliance for Youth Sports is to make sports safe and
positive for America's youth. The Alliance believes that this can only
happen if: |
|
We provide children with a positive introduction to youth sports.
|
|
That administrators, coaches, and game officials are well trained.
|
|
Parents complete an orientation to understand the important impact sports has on their child's development.
|
|
Youth sports are implemented in accordance with the National Standards for Youth Sports.

It
is easier to maintain good health through proper exercise, diet, and emotional
balance than to regain it once it is lost.

Travel
Buddies Project
A fun and easy collaborative project that your classroom and even your whole
school can participate in, is with Traveling Buddies. Traveling Buddies
are stuffed animals that are mailed to participating schools. While this
animal is visiting that school, the host school for the project and the
participating school communicate between each other. This article will
give you ideas on what kind of travel buddy you could use to represent
your school, activities that you can do with participating schools, how
to post your announcement for this project, a suggested itinerary, and
ways that you can creatively share information.
Take
a Gymnastics Online Quiz
mailto:pijewill@eastnet.educ.ecu.edu
These are interactive gymnastics quizzes, designed by John Williams. They are for anyone to use, but primarily to help physical education teachers integrate technology within their lessons.
They were designed to be used by those who are incorporating educational gymnastics in their curriculum rather than olympic style gymnastics.
