National Sportsmanship Day Essay Contest- Entry Deadline, February 11, 2000
Essays may be written on any topic relating to ethics and sportsmanship or provide a personal reflection on an example of good or poor sportsmanship. Entries will be judges in three categories: middle school, high school and college/university. To be eligible, individuals must write essays of 500 words or less on one of the above mentioned topics. The winning essay from each category is published in USA TODAY on National Sportsmanship Day, March 7. For more details visit the Institute for International Sport website.

In the city of Jupiter, Florida, beginning January 1, parents will have to take a one-hour ethics class before their children can participate in the youth sports program. This is the first mandatory use of the ethics program offered by the Parents Alliance for Youth Sports, part of the National Alliance for Youth Sports.
