 Editorial

Relieved . . . Somewhat

As you read in Steve's editorial in the last issue, the initial monies earmarked for the PEP bill have been released and proposals are currently being accepted. Relief!

As Steve also reported, the debate of dodgeball has gone on so long that the public has twisted the need for quality physical education into a debate of whether students are wimping out if dodgeball isn't a part of the curriculum. What a sad commentary on the public's understanding of Physical Education.

In the midst of lousy reporting on a very narrow perspective of Physical Education, CNN and the Seattle P-I has provided a broader, in depth, and positive view of the impact of Physical Education. Additionally, Physical Education requirements are being increased instead of decreased in Alabama! Relief!

Hopefully other news agencies and states will follow the examples of CNN, Seattle, and Alabama. Links to these stories can be found in the news section.
