Change
As a parent of an infant, I have witnessed change that occurs almost hourly. Changes tend to be monumental, and at its best when you least expect it. As I have watched PELINKS, I have often felt the same way. Due to the many contributors, change has been a constant. Sometimes unpredictability with each change has proved to be monumental, but always worth the effort when completed.
I won't bore you with discussion of past changes as they have already been discussed in this editorial and can be seen in the archives. However, I would like to update you with the current status of PELINKS4U, and yes, changes that are coming our way.
Our readership numbers are, fortunately, traveling in the opposite direction of the U.S. economy. Our readership continues to grow, with an average of over 600 visits daily in 40 countries. During the last couple of weeks we witnessed over 1200 visits in a single day on several occasions. Our efforts toward change are to continue this trend of growth.
One effort currently underway is the development of a forum for discussion. A forum currently exists, and is linked at the bottom of the page. However, this forum has discouraged some, in that it is too difficult to enter. Other challenges for people include confusing information, along with continual bombardment with contests and whatever other ploys.
Our new forum, will decrease these challenges, increase simplicity, and remove the unfortunate drawbacks of listservs. The listserv format is great for sharing information. However, the massive redundancy tends to be quite overwhelming to many. Listservs tend to see mass mailings on topics that have been debated, discussed, and covered in enormous detail only weeks before.
The forum we are working toward providing, would allow readers to visit topics that have been covered in the past without overwhelming everyone's mailbox with repeat discussions. We are looking for people who would like to serve as volunteers to try out a new Physical and Health Education forum. If this is of interest to you, you can join our volunteer trial group by contacting PELinks4U.
Additional changes in the near future include a biography page of our section editors, and our research abstract page. The biography page is being designed so that you will know a little more about each of the contributors of each section. The abstract publication page is currently being developed and will highlight research, philosophical ideas, and 'how to' abstracts from presentations. This page will be introduced with abstracts from the presenters of the Physical Education Activity Kaleidoscope Workshop which will be held in Ellensburg, Washington. If you would like us to publish an abstract of your conference presentation contact PELinks4U .
We, here at PELINKS, hope that you enjoy perusing the information we have provided, and as always... please let us know how PELINKS4U can better serve you.
